Chief Research and Development Officer
Dr. Andrejs Berdnikovs is a political scientist and entrepreneur bridging the theoretical foundations of anarchism, agorism, and counter-economics with cutting-edge digital architectures. His work focuses on translating principles of autonomy, mutual aid, and decentralization into practical Web3 protocols, tokenized coordination systems, and Decentralized Society (DeSoc) frameworks.
Institutional Leadership
Throughout a cross-sectoral career, Dr. Berdnikovs has advised high-level state, municipal, and international bodies, bringing deep expertise in technology transfer and policy development:
- International Space Policy: Represented Latvia at the European Space Agency (ESA) as a National Delegate on the Industrial Policy Committee (IPC), contributing to the Technology Advisory Working Group (TA-WG) and the Industrial Policy Evolution Working Group (IPE-WG).
- Public & Municipal Governance: Served as Adviser to the Latvian Minister of Culture, chaired the Government Advisory Council on National Identity and Social Integration, and advised the Deputy Mayor of Riga on digital transformation, telecommunications, and data governance.
- Innovation & DeepTech Ecosystems: Led national innovation initiatives as Head of the Technology Business Centre at the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) and served as Innovation Partnerships Manager at Riga Technical University (RTU).
Academic Research & Social Movement Studies
Dr. Berdnikovs holds a doctorate in Political Science and has led fundamental, applied, and action research across academic institutions:
- Fellowships & Visiting Positions: Served as a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at the University of Washington (Seattle), researching digital technology's impact on protest mobilization, and participated in multiple Baltic-American Freedom Foundation (BAFF) exchange initiatives.
- Research Institutions: Held positions as Senior Researcher at the University of Latvia and Research Fellow at the Institute of Economics of the Latvian Academy of Sciences, investigating digital media ecosystems, innovation governance, and social integration.
- Grassroots & Movement Scholarship: Served as a long-time editor for Interface: A Journal for and about Social Movements – a premier international journal utilized by autonomist, regionalist, and anarchist scholars studying grassroots activism, alternative media, and non-state power structures.
Current Vision: Agorism, DeSoc & Web3
Driven by a growing critique of state institutions and traditional banking systems to deliver equitable, transparent living standards, Dr. Berdnikovs focuses on constructing independent, decentralized alternatives. His current R&D centers on Web3 governance, modular DAOs, tokenomics, mutual aid systems, and the integration of AI into decentralized economic systems – building permissionless, agorist financial and social infrastructure for a decentralized society.
